More of Neil’s 60s photos here www.flickr.com/groups/14774027@N21/ At the north end of Nottingham Victoria station ex-Southern Railway Battle of Britain class 4-6-2 No 34054 Lord Beaverbrook is waiting in the platform prior to taking the empty stock of its football special to the carriage Sidings. This has given the classic gaggle of schoolboy spotters the chance to talk to the driver & no doubt ask if they could “cab it mister?” The match was Nottingham Forest v. Southampton in the FA Cup and two other trains ran from Southampton on the same day behind pacifics 34042 Dorchester and 34102 Lapford. The spotters must have thought they had died and gone to heaven!
