2017 Hyundai Elantra SE Review and Price

This review based on 17 Elantra Sedan Limited with Ultimate package. The 17 Elantra is a BIG improvement in ride and quiet vs the prev generation. Lots of features for the ACTUAL selling price (after dealer discounts & rebates). Was looking at Civics, but got FULLY loaded Elantra (leather, nav, upgraded stereo, safety package, etc.) for what an entry-level Civic would have cost me (after getting multiple dealer quotes- local Honda dealers barely budge off MSRP). And with a 5yr bumper-bumper factory warranty standard ($800-1100 to extend to 5 yr warranty with other automakers except Kia & VW). Limited/Ultimate feels more entry-level luxury sedan than econobox. Memory driver’s seat, dynamic (‘bending’) headlights, and entry lighted door handles are upscale features unique to the class.

Driver’s lumbar support and height-adjustable passenger seat are also nice features missing in some other compacts (like Civic). Controls excellent with logical layout. Handling is very good, and braking is best in class. Tranny is conventional 6-speed AT which is smooth and always seems to be in the right gear. Power is ave in the sedan, (GT is 200+HP), which is still plenty to easily keep up with normal traffic. But real world mileage has consistently beat EPA estimates (33-35mpg mixed, 40-42+mpg hwy over several thousand miles so far). Very happy with the car as my urban commuter.
