The Toyota Corolla is an affordable and reliable car of the “Golf class”, the main version of the car for every day.
The compact car segment is filled with a great variety of available options. Toyota in the basic configuration SE pleases with an expanded list of safety systems and an 8-inch touch-screen multimedia system.
The new Corolla hatchback stands out from the crowd. The car attracts attention with a fancy shape spoiler on the roof, a huge gaping “mouth ” of the radiator grille and incredibly stylish head optics. And it is still an attractive car without excessive aggression and flashy design.
The design of modern Toyota models suits the five-door model very well. The bulging trunk lid and complex roof spoiler are complemented by narrow taillights and a glossy black diffuser. A large cellular radiator grille and weapon-like headlights of the head optics combine the black tip, decorated with the Toyota logo, peeking out from under the hood. This car looks good from any angle.
Instead of using the usual interior design options for cars of this brand, Toyota decided to give it more style. The Japanese made the front panel multi-level, using black plastics and artificial leather with imitation stitching, and the ventilation grilles at the edges were enclosed in a silver matte frame. The seats with two-tone leather and fabric upholstery are stylish and cute. It was quite pleasant to be in them during the entire test drive.
The materials used in interior decoration are not the most high-class and expensive, but they are quite appropriate for the car class. Most of the elements made of hard plastic and artificial leather look pretty decent. The only drawback, perhaps, is the multimedia screen in the style of a tablet protruding from the front panel. This is a worn-out and worn-out solution that you will find in most modern cars. And so much loved by the Japanese abundance of black gloss around the display, which is quickly splattered with fingers.
There are plenty of room in the cabin by the standards of “Golf class”. And let the Corolla hatchback on the room for the legs of the rear passengers is inferior to a few centimeters of the same name sedan, in the gallery of such a “Toyota”, nevertheless, you will still be even a little, but still spacious.
The new hatchback is the first fun-to-drive and fun-to-drive Corolla in my memory. It certainly does not compete with such hot-hatches as the Volkswagen GTI or Hyundai Veloster Turbo (it is simply not fast enough to compete with them), but this five-door, nevertheless, shows itself very well for a mass model. Its 2-liter petrol engine produces 170 forces and 205 Nm. The variator in the car feels like one of the best among the competitors. Thanks to the fixed first gear and the maximum torque used, the Corolla starts quite briskly and quickly. And more importantly, the car feels more capable in fast turns. Body roll is minimal and the chassis at the same concentration.
