Lucid Gravity EV Advances Toward Production for 2024

Lucid Motors Begins Testing of Their Impressive Gravity SUV on Public Roads

Lucid Motors has started testing their highly anticipated SUV, the Gravity, on public roads in the US. The vehicle is still covered in space-themed camouflage, but it is expected to offer sports car driving dynamics and better electric range than any other electric SUV on the market. Lucid aims to open the configurator and order books for the Gravity by the end of 2023, with production set to begin in 2024.

Despite teasing the Gravity last November, the startup car maker has been rather quiet about their upcoming luxury SUV. However, with the recent testing on public roads, enthusiasts have been given a glimpse of what they can expect in the near future. Lucid’s previous release, the Air sedan, has helped to establish the company as a formidable player in the electric vehicle market. Now, with the Gravity, Lucid aims to offer a high-performance luxury SUV with exceptional electric range.

While the details about the Gravity remain scarce, we know that the SUV will offer seating for up to seven people and will feature an updated version of the Glass Cockpit, complete with the latest edition of the Lucid User Experience operating system. The company has also promised driving dynamics that are comparable to sports cars, which could make the SUV a desirable option for performance-oriented EV SUV buyers.

Lucid claims that the Gravity will achieve better electric range than any other electric SUV on sale at present. However, with no real performance figures released yet, it remains to be seen how the Gravity will stand up against current offerings from established car makers such as the Tesla Model X and Ford Mustang Mach-E. Nevertheless, given the success of the Air sedan, it’s reasonable to assume that the Gravity will be a force to be reckoned with in the electric SUV market.

The expected range figures for the Gravity are still unknown. But, we can make guesses based on the Air sedan’s impressive range. The Air boasts the longest range of any other electric vehicle currently sold, according to EPA estimates. If Lucid’s claim about the Gravity’s range holds true, it would be a significant achievement in the EV market.

We should expect the Gravity to offer the same power options as the Air, which can be had in three levels ranging from 480 horsepower to an impressive 1050 horsepower on the Grand Touring Performance. Lucid has not yet released many details about the SUV’s power options, but it’s safe to assume that the Gravity will at least be as powerful as the Air.

Lucid is one of the few car makers that focuses solely on EV production. The company has taken the lessons learned from producing the Air sedan and applied them to the Gravity SUV. With production set to begin in 2024, it’s likely that the Gravity will share many of the Air’s specs, including its impressive range and performance.

Lucid’s forthcoming Gravity SUV is already causing excitement among EV enthusiasts, and for good reason. Lucid Motors has shown that they are capable of producing some of the most impressive EVs on the market today. With the Gravity, the company aims to offer a luxury SUV with exceptional driving dynamics and impressive electric range. The configurator and order books for the Gravity should open near the end of 2023, with production beginning in 2024. Only time will tell if the Gravity can live up to the hype, but it’s already looking like a standout contender in the EV SUV market.
