2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Sport Review and Price

A 280-horsepower gasoline engine under the hood of the 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Sport surprises and pleases. A real mad animal with crazy acceleration. Throwing the tachometer needle into the red zone, the Stelvio accelerates to 100 km/ h in 5.7 seconds, accompanying this exercise with a raucous and charismatic soundtrack of the exhaust system. Many competitors will need a couple of additional cylinders to get this sound.

The Stelvio is a great car and, of course, one of the most driving among crossovers with “fours” under the hood. A magnificent 8-speed automatic transmission ZF matches the engine. It works smoothly and quickly. Just have time to keep an eye on the accelerator pedal, on the force of pressing on which the fuel consumption depends very much. Handling it carefully, it is quite possible to keep within 8 l/ 100 km, and if you press down, then 12.5 l/100 km will not be the limit.

Regardless of the type of pavement under the wheels and the direction of the road, the Stelvio’s dynamics are as stunning as ever.

Perhaps no crossover goes better and does not give the driver more pleasure than this one. The Stelvio has extremely light, sharp and sporty somewhat nervous steering. The car is damn stable on the road and almost does not list in bends, reminding its behavior of a different sports sedan. Regardless of the selected driving settings, it clearly prescribes turns at speed, and thanks to the balanced all-wheel drive and excellent grip of the tires on the road, it makes driving more sporty and exciting than other crossovers can not boast.

However, electronic assistants and stabilization systems still work too roughly. On the one hand, this is sad, because the Stelvio is a car capable of more. On the other hand, it is still a crossover for every day. Getting used to it requires the brakes of the car. At first, when you press the pedal seems too tight, then you feel it quite a long course and only then you feel the point from which the brakes are activated.

The segment in which the Stelvio performs is full of worthy rivals, including BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and the like.

With the interior of the crossover from Alfa Romeo, everything is in order. The front seats and back sofa are really commendable. Free space for rear passengers is enough both in the knees and above the head. The trunk volume is good. The materials and build quality are also good.

But the real disappointment is the infotainment system. The display of navigation system maps on the screen, the speed, loading speed, and voice control are just awful. If the dynamics, handling and behavior of the car on the road for you at least a little more important than the capacity of the trunk and the presence of heated seats, then you should definitely buy it. To date, there is no crossover that can deliver a person driving more fun than the Stelvio.
