I would like to talk about the design of the Hyundai Sonata 2020. Korean designers have completely redrawn it, making the silhouette sportier, apparently focusing more on the youth audience. The Hyundai Sonata 2020 has a harmonious car that looks good from all angles. It looks fresh, interesting and sporty.
Interior materials of the Hyundai Sonata are well chosen, especially the upper part, which you most often touch with your hands. Here the plastic is only soft, and the elements are trimmed with leather. The lower part of the cabin is made of simpler materials, but you can’t call them cheap, it’s just that the same plastic elements are no longer soft, but hard to the touch.
The central display looks pretty interesting, which goes from the visor of the dashboard. The abandonment of the classic transmission gear lever made it possible to visually expand the space, but the buttons look a little unusual. Yes, using the buttons is easy, you just need to get used to this solution a little. All elements of the interior have smooth bends of lines.
In terms of filling with electronics, the new Hyundai Sonata 2020 has also reached a new level, it even contains solutions that previously could only be found in premium cars, but now they have migrated to the mass segment.
The speed of the media system is at a good level, there are no slowdowns, so you can use it for your own pleasure. The Koreans have redrawn the entire interface of the new system, so that both fonts and icons now look nice and modern.
Two smartphones can be connected to the new media system simultaneously, the speakerphone works well, there are no problems with connecting the devices.
The new Sonata has a complete set of electronic assistants, along with adaptive cruise control, it also has a traffic jam assistant, which works at speeds up to 30 km/h and does a very good job of its duties.
You feel comfortable behind the wheel of a car, there are enough adjustments for drivers of any height. The front seats are equipped with three-level heating and ventilation. Both work properly, so that in winter you can quickly warm up the chair, and in summer you can cool it down. There is also plenty of room behind the front seats.
Climate control is dual-zone, it works well, smoothly adjusting the temperature in the cabin in automatic mode.
The trunk volume has not changed in comparison with the previous model and is still the same 510 liters. The rear seat backs can be folded down separately from the luggage compartment itself, which is convenient. The system of automatic opening/closing of the trunk is not provided, as well as a banal handle for this action.
But the eighth generation Sonata loses out in comfort to its predecessor. To provide better handling of the car, the manufacturer has made the suspension stiffer, but now small irregularities in the roadway are better felt in the cabin, although the car passes large irregularities quite well. Soundproofing has also become worse, the sound of tires from not very well insulated arches constantly annoys, and acoustic noises also appear at speed, so you have to raise your voice a little while talking with a passenger.
